Introduction

Flight to the Future is an online drone training program designed for pilots and flight crew looking to enhance their knowledge and skills in drone systems, aerodynamics, regulations, weather theory, and forecasts. The course is hosted on a web platform where users can access educational video content and practice tests to test their knowledge.

Problem statement

There is a growing need for drone pilots and flight crew to understand the complexities of UAV operations safely and efficiently. However, many existing drone courses lack engaging and comprehensive content, making it difficult for users to retain and apply what they learn.

Research

Our team conducted extensive research on the current landscape of drone businesses and identified gaps in the market. We also conducted user research to understand the needs and pain points of drone pilots and flight crew.

Design process

Using the research insights, our team developed a comprehensive scripts, storyboards, design guide, illustration style, and custom animations for the online training program.

Solution

We produced a series of high-quality educational videos covering topics such as drone systems, aerodynamics, federal aviation regulations, weather theory, and forecasts. The videos are engaging, easy to understand, and designed to help users retain and apply what they learn. We also developed practice tests that reinforce the concepts learned in each lesson.

Results

The Flight to the Future training program has been successful in helping drone pilots get through training and certifications. The course has received positive feedback from users, and we have seen an increase in the number of pilots and flight crew successfully passing their FAA certification exams.
